Senator Kohl's Office: "...we need Judges who make laws that are good for everybody..."
Although this Blog may have looked dead over the past few weeks, it isn't. Now that summer is here, I've just got too much going on outside to be sitting inside. In any case, I'm still trying to convert liberals into conservatives, even though it's an extremely up-hill battle.
My most memorable phone call over the past weeks was to Senator Kohl's Milwaukee office. I called to let the Senator know that he was wrong on two counts (the only two in the letter, by the way) in a response to one of my comments. First, the filibuster was never meant to be used for judicial nominees as the Senator believes it should be, and second, what the mainstream thinks has nothing to do with evaluating a potential federal justice.
It was in telling the girl at Kohl's office about the second point that the office flunkie told me that we need judges that make laws that are good for everybody.
I then politely jumped down her throat and tried to explain to her that judges don't make laws, we do through our representatives! AUGhhhhhhh......
Here's another gem of hers: when I told her judges should interpret the Constitution as it was written, as opposed to her idea of interpreting it to suit the situation, she said (paraphrased) "...well all those guys that wrote the Constitution are dead now....
She probably thought I was a nut.
